Professional Massage Services
Body massage is a ancient health practice dating back to Roman times and beyond. It is a
worldwide practice used for relaxation, detox, pain management, healing, and improved health. Massage is an
alternative health practice more and more prescribed by allopathic doctors and recognized for its genuine health
benefits. We are excited about the opportunity to offer such a needed healing modality in our modern, stressful,
complex society. We offer several varities of massage at fair market prices, to include an annual membership for
those who wish to implement massage on a regular week to week basis at even lower prices than marketed for the
general public. Included in the $150.00 annual membership are some freebies and lowered fees on all of our services
Below is a list of our massage services. Remember to consult with your physician before having a massage if you
have a medical condition that would be contraindicated such as diabetes, cancer, skin disease, etc.
- Swedish Massage uses specific techniques such as effeurage, petrissage, tapotement,
circular friction, and circumduction of joints to help relax the body. It is not a deep tissue massage, but does in
fact move lymph fluid which benefits the body in overcoming toxins in the lymph system. This massage is well suited
for the frail or those individuals who cannot tolerate deep tissue techniques.
- General Massage is a massage routine where we incorporate various techniques, similar to therapeutic
massage, but does not specify an injury assessment. Unless otherwise requested, this is the typical table massage
a client will experience, which is based on the massage practiioner's intuition, wide array of techniques, and
creativity.
- Therapeutic Massage uses techniques to include trigger point therapy, heat/ice, deep tissue, Swedish
massage strokes, accupressure, reflexology, topical creams/solutions, electrical devices used in a nonmedical
context for muscle healing stimulation purposes, such as hand-held massagers, ultrasound, nogier frequencies,
laser-TENS, infra-red heat lamp. These massages are generally used to address an injury such as a muscle strain,
soreness, tightness, or generalized pain in an area such as the lower back, shoulder, etc. Never seek massage therapy
for an injury in its acute phase, but wait instead for the bruising, swelling, etc. to subside before making your
appointment. Massage therapy for injury is a slow process and should be understood to require several sessions,
possibly twice a week, until the muscles have had the opportunity for full recovery. In most cases a single
massage for a muscle injury will not bring about the desired results. However, therapy is necessary in order
to prevent a chronic condition from developing, and massage is a rewarding, beneficial option. Generally speaking,
a physician's supervision is recommended during a ongoing series of therapeutic massage, though not an absolute
requirement. If the injury or condition is beyond our scope of practice, a physician's care will be recommended
upon consultation. We are not a replacement for medical treatment, but an adjunct alternative practice
incorporating standard massage methodology.
- Zen Shiatsu Massage has its roots from asia and is based on accupressure techniques. It is traditionally
performed on a massage mat on the floor. Techniques include compression and adjustable deep pressure using the
thumbs, elbows and even knees. This massage can be relaxing and therapeutic.
- Hot Stone Massage has a popular following in the spa/massage industry. Hot black lava stones are heated
in a special unit while submerged in water and then removed and placed on a flat surface to cool. At this time the
client is prepped for the massage, which involves placing the hot stones at various locations on the body, i.e. the
back, the toes, the hands, shoulders, face, etc. The temperature of the stones are monitored before placement and
tested for each individual's tolerance to the stone's heat output. This massage, like all full body massages,
requires the client to change lying positions on the table (prone or suppine), whereby the hot stones are removed
from one side of the body and replaced again on the untreated side. Most stones are placed directly on the skin,
though when placed at the spine while in a suppine position, a towel is used between the stones and the skin.
A body massage using a hot stone as a hand tool is received in unison with the hot stone placement. Hot oil is
used in conjunction with the hot stones. What is accomplished is a deep penetrating heated muscle massage. Typically,
hot stone massage can last up to 90 minutes.
- Raindrop Therapy Massage with Essential Oils is a technique invented by Gary Young of Young Living Essential
Oils. The therapy uses valor, basil, thyme, aroma siez, peppermint, oregano, wintergreen, marjoram, cypress, on the feet,
shoulders and the back. Essential oils are known for their healing properties when used at the feet, spinal column or inhaled.
We do not practice the exact method that Gary Young teaches whereby pure nondiluted oils are used on the skin. We dilute
our oils before application to insure safety. Only upon special request will we apply the pure oil to your skin. Essential
oils are a science to themselves with well documented information on their usage and application. We are official distributors
of Young Living Essential Oil products.
- Body Bridge Massage implements the "body bridge" table or "back bridge" which was designed to stretch
the back and spine using curvature. The body bridge can be used by itself without a massage, but in this case a
massage routine is rendered while the individual is fully clothed. A very noninvasive, but therapeutic massage
for those who have back problems and want the benefits of massage combined with a back/spine stretch.
- Chair Massage is a massage routine performed while the individual client sits in a specially designed
massage chair, fully clothed, and receives a massage directed to one or all of the following: neck, shoulder, back,
arms, hands, scalp. Techniques commonly used are compression, petrissage, accupressure, circumduction. Sessions
last anywhere from 10 minutes until 30 minutes. Time is chosen by the client. This massage is directed toward
the stressed individual who has time and/or financial contraints, or does not prefer an unclothed full body massage.
It is also typically used as a marketing tool for massage practioners to meet new potential clients where they can
safely and noninvasively introduce themselves and their touch to the new person. Though there are people who choose
to receive chair massages exclusively, it is often a stepping stone to the full body massage. Chair massage is
very popular in the work place setting and companies around the world have recognized its benefits in helping
relieve employee stress. Though table massage is mobile too, chair massage is mobile, noninvasive, economical,
time saving and requires less physical space versus the private larger space neccesitated by table massage. This
practice can virtually be set up anywhere, even on the sidewalk. Chair massage is used in our office as an obvious
alternative to table massage.
- Inversion Table Therapy is provided in addition to or in combination with massage to help those clients
who experience lower back pain. The client's ankles are locked in place by padded cuffs while resting on a table
that can invert the position of the body from a standing position to a reverse feet in the air position. There
are varying angle degrees used to help the body adjust gradually to inversion. Time spent on the table is brief,
but increased after continued practice. Inversion therapy relieves the pressure sustained on the lower back while
standing, sitting, lying, etc., therefore relieving pain and allowing a healing process to reside.
- Vibration therapy is available through use of a vibration machine. Vibration therapy was first used
by the Russians. It is now used by many athletes and by NASA. It helps relieve stress, exercises the muscles,
and increase metabolism.
Follow Your Path has available various massage tools and equipment to assist in your
healing, pain needs. Infra-red lamp with mineral plate, EM-Pulse (electromagnetic energy device), Nogier Light
